i have a new youtube video to share. but this time it's okay if you guys dont play it. it is a video showing taylor swift's performance during the grammy awards 2010 where she shared the stage with stevie nicks.
stevie nicks is a legend. she was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 1998. more details about her amazing music career here.
after i watched the video, i think it is quite sad how realistic the music industry is. the great almighty stevie nicks had to resort to becoming a background singer for taylor swift. like COME ON.
hey. dont be mistaken. i am not a hater of taylor swift. (how can i be?!) in fact i am a great fan of hers. she writes her own songs. and some of those are really good. she is really talented no doubt. (not to mention that she is sooo pretty. aww.)
but wheres the respect and love for stevie nicks? i mean, yes maybe it is no longer her prime. maybe most of her fans died or now have other priorities besides buying her album like sending their kids to college. but we still need to show her the respect she deserves man. whats the point of labeling someone a legend and throwing her aside after that?! isnt it the same as labeling someone 'too old' or 'useless'?
how can a legend resort to becoming a backup singer. yes new up and coming stars will always replace the old ones. look at freaking justin bieber. 15 year old kid. wait till he experiences puberty and his voice breaks. all the guys out there will be laughing with me. we must still respect the older generation. for their experience and knowledge for they have gone through so much more than us.
in this sense i guess thats what the asian community have achieved quite well. since young we have be taught to respect people older than us. i think learning how to respect people with greater seniority is a great virtue. for we have so much to learn from them.
having said so much, if you must, here is the video. hell, it isnt much worth a watch anyway. disappointing for a grammy performance. but take a look to see what i mean. witness the ugly side of the great music industry.
